Further Afield
Whatever you want from your holiday, Cornwall has it, and Port Isaac is the perfect place to make your base.
A short drive away you will find the beaches of Polzeath and Daymer Bay. Polzeath boasts a huge sandy beach loved by families and surfers alike. Daymer Bay, another sandy beach popular with families, is on the estuary and is a favourite with the kite surfing fraternity.
If walking is more your thing, the coastal paths in the area are stunning. From Port Isaac you can walk the 10 or so miles to Rock taking in Port Quinn, Epphaven, Lundy, The Rumps and Polzeath. Or head the other way past Port Gaverne. The choice is yours.
Nearby Rock has a number of restaurants and pubs not to mention the famous St. Enodoc Golf Club. From Rock you can also take the foot-ferry across the estuary to bustling Padstow, famous for its wonderful fish restaurants, notably Rick Stein’s.
Approximately 9 miles
away from Port Isaac is Wadebridge, the largest town in the area with plentiful
shops and restaurants. Wadebridge is also the half way point of The
Camel Trail (the disused railway line which runs from Padstow to Bodmin) which
you can cycle
along as much, or as little, as you like. There are bike
hire
shops in Wadebridge and Padstow that cater for
the whole family.
For younger
visitors there are numerous adventure and theme parks in the area. Newquay
is home to the fabulous Blue
Reef Aquarium. Other nearby attractions include
Tintagel with its castle steeped in Arthurian legend.
A little further afield,
The Eden Project and The
Lost Gardens of Heligan are well worth visiting.
As you can see, something for everyone.
